In Chinese Medicine, the liver is said to vibe with bitter flavored herbs. That said, it really vibes with dandelion.

Dandelion is a celebrity amongst medicinal plants. I dare you to find a detoxification formula or liver cleansing tea that doesn’t contain it. Its flavonoids make it bitter, but it is also slightly sweet in taste. So it benefits the liver and the digestive system according to TCM. All this means better bile flow!

It is ‘cold’ in nature – perfect for pacifying the heat that is responsible for congesting the liver! A less congested liver means healthier blood. Dandelion is a blood purifier that aids in clots and stagnation. AND it is a diuretic that is packed with vitamins and minerals (a rare component of diuretics). It cleanses us and helps maintain adequate mineral balance.

So for these recipe of the Spring Liver Detox Series, we’re going to combine all this dandelion goodness with Restore.

Why?

Because beets + greens is magic for the liver. And beets + dandelion greens is even more magic.

The beets in Restore work amazingly with the dandelions to make healthier blood. Restore is the perfect liver juice, and this season dandelions make it a little more perfect.  According to TCM, beets not only cleanse and support liver function, but in turn they help to build blood. So we need them in our lives if we want clean, strong blood.
